The Love Mandate: “Love the lord your God... Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt 22:37- 38). During class activities and everyday lessons, we are constantly seeking opportunities to link our actions and our words with the way God would like us to. I want to live life to glorify Him and praise Him in everything I do and say. Showing a loving and respectful work relationship with my aide is the first example I can show them every day. How we treat each other, and how we use kind words to talk to each other are other ways. I want to take every opportunity to explain how God wants us to love each other and by doing so we are loving and glorifying him. That also means obeying his words and by being grateful and thankful.

The Mission Mandate: “Go and make disciples...teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matt 28:18-20). Teaching a second language to students is a gift from the Lord, both for the families in my class and myself. Teaching them vocabulary and social skills will further develop in them an amazing opportunity to spread the Word of God. How incredible it is to know God, what he did for us, how much he loves each one of us unconditionally, and to be able to talk about it in more than one language! It opens infinite doors for more people to accept God as their Savior.

The Image Mandate: “Let us make man in our image... Be fruitful.. fill the earth... subdue it... rule over every living creature...” (Gen. 1:26,28). We teach our students to choose not by their desire, but by what they know is right and by thinking what God would have us choose because we are made in his image. It means to think before we talk, as it is hard to fix a wrinkled heart. To not think before we do, to act impulsively is difficult to undo: “To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either” (Luke 6:29). I want to help these children how to live the life we are created to live: in love, peace, and harmony.
