A "Big Give" Senior
Project Helps Out Habitat For Humanity
Our very own NPC Senior, Anna Waasenaar, with encouragement
from her dad, decided to chair a benefit for Habitat For
Humanity as her senior project before graduation.
Using her love for the sport of volleyball, Anna organized a
volleyball tournament held on Friday, April 25 in our high
school gymnasiums. Friends, family and corporate
connections supported the event in many ways. Twelve
six-person teams played in the tournament, event sponsors
for $250 were displayed on banners at the event, and others
paid to be spectators as they watched the fun evening
unwind. The event raised over $5,000 for Habitat for
Humanity! Great job to Anna Waasenaar and thanks to all
those who came out to support the cause!
Award Winning Student
Artist
A big congratulations to
Kyle Bekins, who won Silver at the National Scholastic Art
Competition! This is a great honor. 100,000 pieces are
submitted and only 1,000 are chosen for medals at nationals.
Kyle's piece was a "found object/mixed media" sculpture with
a strong narrative. This Scholastic competition grades
on personal voice, creativity and technical merit. The piece
will be in the senior hall display case soon.
