Statement of Faith

Teaching, leading, and working with the NorthPointe Christian band students is the way God has called me to serve, inspire, and equip students “to impact their world for Jesus Christ” In the great commandment, we are called to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-38). Through learning and performing music together, students show God’s love by building each other up, including and welcoming all ability levels, and together “Making a joyful noise” (Psalm 100).  Leading a life for Jesus and expressing that love through music is one of the greatest gifts I can give to my students and that they can share with others.

I was brought to Christ and the church in high school through my gift of playing the trumpet.  Jesus commands us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit , and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.”(Matthew 28:18-20).  My students learn every day what it means to make disciples using their musical gifts.  I will teach my students to a skill level where they will share their gifts of music with their church community, family, friends, and those in need of witnessing the love of Christ through music.  Ephesians 5:19 says we should be “…singing and making melody from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” It is to Him and about Him that we make music!
