Being the Hands and Feet of Jesus

How DK Students Learn to Shine His Light Through Everyday Work

At NorthPointe Christian Schools, even our youngest learners are discovering the powerful ways God can use their unique gifts to serve others. This month, our Developmental Kindergarten students have been exploring the world of Community Helpers during their Social Studies unit, learning how everyday jobs can be a way to glorify God.

We began by talking about how God made each of us special and how He fulfills His will through our work—whether big or small, easy or challenging. As our students go about their day, we ask them how they can love God and others in their tasks, fostering a deeper understanding of what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.

One of the highlights of our week was inviting parents to share about their professions. These special guests helped students see how God uses people in various roles to serve and care for their communities. Through these discussions, students connected their learning to the words of Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

We are especially thankful for our NPC parents and faculty, like our inspiring principal, Mrs. V, who consistently models servant-hearted leadership. This year, we reflect on our NPC family’s incredible impact on our school and the broader community. Through service projects and everyday acts of kindness, our families and staff shine God’s light far beyond our walls.

Developmental Kindergarten teacher, Lori Axelson, shares, “The NPC families that work within our community have such an impact on shining the light of His glory on others. We really have some amazing people here and I am so happy to be a part of this team.”
