Lori Axelson

English Developmental Kindergarten Teacher
Year Start At NPC: 2023

I am thankful for the opportunity to teach at Northpointe Christian. It’s a privilege to speak the name of Jesus to my students each day. Encouraging the youngest learners to look for Him in life’s everyday experiences is a true gift. My favorite question to ask children at the start of the day is, “How will you be a light that shines for Jesus today?”

Faith & Life

Bio

I graduated from MSU with a Bachelor of Science in Family Community Services, majoring in Early Childhood Education and Administration.  I have 15 years of professional experience working in the Early Childhood Field as a Teacher, Early Childhood Interventionist, Parent Educator, and classroom Instructional Aide. In my spare time, I enjoy movie nights at home with my family, gardening, and watching my four children’s sporting events and activities here at Northpointe Christian.

Statement of Faith

My faith in Jesus has been the greatest gift I’ve ever received. Growing up, I had a few Christian influences, but it wasn’t until after college that I sought a relationship with Him. Before, I prided myself on being independent and didn’t like relying on others for help. Now, I know that dependence on God and others is not a sign of weakness but strength, which only He can give. Being a Christ follower, I know my heart is forever changed.

As I walk through the year ahead, I pray I can be a strong example of the Love Mandate: ” Love the Lord your God…Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 22:37-38). In DK, we will have the opportunity to live this out as a Classroom family. We will learn how to love each other well, even when it is difficult. We will do this by learning to put others before ourselves as we navigate things like turn-taking and using kind words with our classmates. I will do my best to carry out this mandate by providing a worthy example of conduct and honoring God through my decisions in and out of the classroom.
