Marketplace
What is Marketplace?
Marketplace is an interdisciplinary economy unit for all students in grades 6th-8th. Students have the opportunity to learn entrepreneurship, economics, and citizenship concepts through project based learning. The unit culminates with an authentic Marketplace event where students sell a product or service to the community.
Students take on the following roles:
-
8th graders serve as CEO of their own company. They decide on the company name, product/service, and prepare an informative and persuasive speech for the 6th and 7th graders.
-
7th graders serve as General Manager of Marketing for the company that hires them. Prior to being hired, they develop a cover letter, prepare a resume and interview for their position with the 8th grade CEO.
-
6th graders serve as the Manager of Operations. Prior to being hired, they practice writing cover letters and prepare resumes.
