Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

Every family attending NorthPointe Christian Elementary is a member of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). We meet monthly as we seek to find ways to enhance the educational and recreational opportunities of our school as well as the physical facilities. We also seek to facilitate volunteers as needed to serve our school community.

Our PTO provides leadership in three significant aspects of our elementary school.

  1. School community building. The PTO organizes events and activities that help make our school a fun place to be and where students and parents get connected to our school family. Theses activities include the Colt Carnival, roller skating, and classroom parties just to name a few.
  2. Fundraising. The PTO raises between $10,000 to $20,000 each year. This provides "beyond budget" resources for school equipment, special events, and student services. New classroom computers, playground equipment, a chapel sound system, and classroom data projectors are just of few of the opportunities/equipment the PTO has made possible for our students.
  3. Student Services. The PTO provides student services such as the hot lunch program, milk program, and head room parent program as well as a regularly scheduled time to discuss and problem solve issues affecting our school.

Being a part of the PTO is a wonderful opportunity for each family to minister to our school body. In addition, it's a great way to make lasting friendships while serving together. If you have any questions, call the elementary office at 616.363.4869 and they will help you find the right people to talk to regarding the PTO.

Moms in Touch

Moms In Touch is a national organization offering a Bible study and prayer program for mothers who wish to support their children's school in prayer together. Our Moms In Touch group meet weekly to pray for our teachers, our campuses, and our students. This group has served as a fabulous ministry to our school family over many years.

Parent & Grandparent Classroom Volunteers

Each elementary class utilizes parent volunteers differently. Some teachers ask willing parents and grandparents to sign up to help with spelling words, flash cards, listening to scripture verses, and working with reading groups. Other teachers appreciate administrative help with photocopies, packing Friday folders, or prepping classroom activities. Parents are encouraged to communicate their willingness to volunteer to their classroom teachers at the beginning of each year.

Lunch Helpers

Our lunch coordinator is supported in the kitchen by parent and grandparent volunteers who are typically available to serve on a rotating schedule throughout the month. Each day, about two parents help prepare lunch, serve lunch, and manage the lunch room.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

A lot of help with events like our Elementary Family Carnival, and regular "chores" like keeping up our birthday bulletin boards updated and our fish tank clean are all crucial spots to fill to guarantee the success of each school year. Please inquire in the main elementary office if you are interested in helping out!
