A Friendly Family-like School Community
Parents of our school family have often quipped, "it's like our kids have hundreds of fabulous aunts and uncles!"
By partnering with NorthPointe Christian Schools, our families appreciate the common values shared by others their children come in contact with... whether it's classmates, their friends' parents, the staff, or the administrators... we're committed to serving Christian families and walking in faith together.

Legos Come to School
Almost all kids have played with Legos, sometimes with parents or grandparents showing little ones how to make a building, a car, animal (Grandpa says, "What a fine tiger! Grandson says, "That's a dog!"). Now Legos have come to NorthPointe Christian's elementary school. Mrs Kooiker sponsors an after-school club that meets for four sessions on Wednesday afternoons. The program is called Lego Education WeDo.
The program is far more than getting out a box of Legos. Through a computer program the students learn how to make machines that move, a robotics for beginners. The kids follow the computer program design, using a system of gears, pulleys, levers, and belts to make an object move. The current group just made a twirling bird. After making an object, the students get instructions for changing the design, e.g., decreasing speed, and imagine how to achieve it.
In the current sessions, 24 students (8 girls and 16 boys, working in pairs, participate in the club, open to grades 2-5. A few 2nd graders in the group commented about the club:
"I get to work with electronics, and I get to program stuff." Daniel Nymeyer
"I like that I can discover things, like things you never knew. I never knew you could hook one of those things to a computer." Katie Edison
"I like that I get to build animals that move and make sounds." Jack McIlhargey
