What is served?
Our lunches include a nutritious entree, a fruit and/or vegetable side or two, a starch side (potatoes or chips), and a little dessert.
How does it work?
Parents use ParentsWeb (their personal online NPCS Portal system) to order lunch for their child(ren), choosing specific days based on the menu. Each child's lunch order is done separately, so if you only have one picky eater in the family, they can opt to pack a sack lunch on days their siblings order hot lunch. Ordering is done online, and each family pays via check that is sent to the elementary office.
How much does it cost?
Single Serving: $2.75
Double Serving: $3.25
How do I order milk?
Chocolate, vanilla and even strawberry flavored milk can be ordered by any student. Each semester order forms go home and milk can be ordered whether or not a child orders hot lunch.
Who makes and serves lunch?
Our lunch coordinator, a certified food service provider and employee of our PTO, coordinates our lunch program. She works with teams of volunteer parents and grandparents to prep and serve delicious, healthy, and kid-friendly meals each day.
Where do students eat lunch?
The elementary gym gets transformed each day into a cafeteria serving students in two shifts. The first lunch includes kindergarten through 2nd graders and the second lunch includes 3rd through 5th graders. Preschool students eat in their own special room in the lower elementary hall that gets set up with preschool-sized picnic tables.
How do we deal with food allergies and diabetes?
Our lunch coordinator is always available via email to answer questions about meal ingredients or food preparation. If your child has a particular allergy, we are sure to alert their classroom teacher and the lunch staff, but rely on you to only order meals appropriate for their specific need. Special arrangements will be made to ensure each child can enjoy birthday treats and class party snacks. Our lunch room contains two "nut free" tables. Students are instructed to sit there if they have nut allergies and can be joined by any of their friends so long as friends' lunches don't contain nut ingredients.
