6th Grade Camp:
The 6th grade students enjoy a week at Lake Ann Baptist Camp. Time is spent fostering positive relationships, working on team building activities, learning in special ways and having time together for spiritual growth.
Chicago Trip:
The 7th grade students enjoy a day in Chicago. Students visit many different parts of Chicago including the Shedd Aquarium, The Museum of Science and Industry, and Navy Pier.
Washington, D.C. Trip:
The 8th grade students enjoy a shortened school week in Washington D.C. exploring historical landmarks and visiting museums, battlefields, etc. Students have the opportunity to see firsthand places studied in history class. Another valuable part of this trip is the positive peer relationships that are enhanced and encouraged.
J-term:
This is a special week in January designed for students to learn in unconventional ways. Time is spent learning and exploring topics that often aren't covered during a regular school day. Each year the J-term week is organized around a theme such as Careers, Living an On-Target Life Spiritually, Academically, Physically, Socially, Emotionally, etc. This week includes many field trips and special speakers.
COOL Class:
This class is developed to meet the MS students where they are at as they deal with environmental, emotional, social, physical and contextual changes in their lives. Students are divided into groups of 15-20 students and meet with a teacher each Friday morning for the first 30 minutes of the school day. COOL CLASS includes team building activities and organizational skills.
S.W.A.P.
Students With A Purpose is a program for encouraging positive behavior. These behaviors include actions noticed by teachers of students helping another student or teacher. Teachers recognize students by awarding "SWAP" slips which are put into weekly drawings for prizes.
