This innovative Program offers the following:
Bible, English, Math, Social Studies & Science classes. Students will attend a full day of school on Tuesdays and Thursdays (1st-6th grade) with a teacher who will instruct them in the core academic subjects.. 5th – 6th grade 2 Day Program students will have the opportunity to participate in band or orchestra with NPCS full-time students.
Friendly and highly qualified professional teachers who you can turn to for help and encouragement. Our teachers are your partners and they are available to help you along the way. They love children and desire to go above and beyond to make sure your children are progressing academically and enjoying the process. They truly listen to you and desire to mold learning experiences to your child’s needs.
Parents as partners with the 2 Day Program teachers. Our teachers partner with parents by sending home detailed lesson plans for home instruction, by communicating regularly with parents, and by being available to assist parents. Parents are likewise encouraged to assist in the classroom from time to time to optimize the teacher’s effectiveness. Participating in the classroom also familiarizes parents with the teacher’s methods and strategies, and offers the opportunity to get to know their child’s classmates. Most importantly, it is a special day for each student when his/her parents are present. Parent partner training is available during the Parent Orientation meeting in August.
Flexibility of schedule for families. Parents are required to teach their children at home with assignments according to lesson plans provided by the teacher, but their schedule is their own. When a parent spends one on one time with a child, they can be a bit more focused than a teacher with a class full of children. Parents will be able to convey the content, discuss its significance, and free their children to engage in other worthwhile activities beyond the “classroom”. A great deal of academic information can be transmitted in the course of everyday life and this program offers you 5 days a week to experience life in its fullest.
All teaching from a Biblical Worldview. The Bible is taught as the inerrant Word of God and the final authority on all subjects. The truth of the Bible is included as part of the academic discipline and not relegated to Bible class alone. Students will learn that all truth is from God and they will learn how to consider what God says about every area of life from math to relationships.
Curriculum that is planned by professional teachers so you can focus on your children instead of lesson plans. The single most influential factor in a child's educational performance is an involved parent. It is also the primary factor in the child's emotional, social, and spiritual development. We give you the time, opportunity, and tools not only to inform your children's minds, but also to form their hearts and lives.
An enjoyable learning experience. All children love learning. Watch as a child makes new discoveries. That wonder and excitement is exactly what learning is all about. A school should not take away the love of learning. The program has been developed to flame the fire of a child’s inquisitive nature and to build positive memories of exciting discoveries.
Literature as an integral part of the curriculum. It is true that some students do not like to read. But there are few who do not fully enjoy a good story. That is why many students learn and retain more from stories than from textbooks. Great literature provides the foundation for a broader understanding of history, moves students toward cultural literacy, builds vocabulary, plus much more. The program will entice your children to love truly great books that inspire you and your children to become life-long learners.
An environment that promotes excellent social skills. As parents, our number one priority is building strong relationships with our children and teaching them how to rightly relate to God, others, and created things (time, money, possessions, animals, etc.) The classroom experience gives children the opportunity to practice godly skills in relating to peers, in resolving conflicts with peers, and in developing sensitivity to the needs of peers. Yet tests prove that a child who interacts with parents and siblings more than with peers displays self-confidence, self-respect, and self-worth. Socialization, like learning and life, takes place every day. How you interact with your kids -- and how they watch you interact with the outside world -- teaches them all the social skills they'll need to know.
The opportunity for students to participate in school sponsored events that build community. Being part of a school is being part of a community of people who enjoy being together and creating fun memories together. NPCS offers many enriching activities such as snow skiing, roller skating, track & field day, Colt Carnival, speech meet, middle school geography and spelling bees, middle school drama, etc. The 2 Day Program students will also be able to participate in school pictures and be included in NPCS’ yearbook and family directory.
The opportunity for students to participate in NPCS team sports. The philosophy of the sports program at NPC is to train and prepare athletes physically, mentally, and spiritually. While winning is of importance, the elementary & middle school sports are considered to be primarily developmental in nature. Sports that are offered at the elementary level are boys and girls basketball and girls volleyball. Sports that are offered in the middle school level are Cross Country, track & field.
Record Keeping and standardized testing. NPCS will issue regular progress reports. Student’s cumulative files will be maintained by NPCS. These files contain all medical and academic information. These files are transferred with a student if they enroll in another school. The standardized testing that is available to full time students is also available for the 2-Day Program students.
Great value. We believe that an investment in children is the greatest investment a family can make. Money used to develop a child spiritually, academically, and socially is not money “spent”, it is money “invested” that will produce fruit and bring about a generous return if watered and fertilized in the way in which God directs.
All 2-Day School students are students of NPCS which is accredited by both NCA and CSI and in compliance with the State of Michigan's educational standards.
