What tests are given at the High School level?
MAP (Measures in Academic Progress) Testing by the NWEA (North West Evaluation Association) -
These assessments, taken three times each year by 9th grade students are uniquely designed to provide teachers with the most accurate measurement of student achievement and growth. Students are tested in Math, Reading, Language Usage and Science 2 to 3 times a year. This test benchmarks student growth and is a formative assessment for early learners, this pioneered computer adaptive testing helps us pinpoint—to the goal-strand level—where your students are ready to advance, and where they need help.
PSAT test -
This is an optional "Pre-SAT" test for all 10th graders in the fall - the only test given to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship and National Achievement Scholarship Program.
PLAN Test -
This test is taken by 10th grade students and is a part of the ACT testing program, given in the spring, to give feedback and provide testing experience in preparation for the ACT test later in high school.
Michigan Merit Exam (MME) -
This test is given to all NPC 11th graders in March on the required dates for all public schools. Although optional as a private school, NPC wants all students to have the opportunity to show achievement and readiness as compared to other students in Michigan. Also, since Day 1 is the actual ACT test, it provides all students the opportunity to test together and without individual cost.
Michigan Merit Exam (ACT)-
11th and 12th - NPC recommends that most students take the ACT test at national testing sites on their own starting in the fall of 11th grade through the fall of 12th.

AP Tests -
11th and 12th - Students from NPC take a variety of AP tests each year. Normally, there are approximately 4 AP classes offered in the NPC schedule, however, through online courses and independent studies there was a total of 8 different subject AP tests given at NPC in the spring of 2011.

What is done with scores?
Teachers use the data collected to help them better hone in on specific strength and weakness areas for students. Test scores are sent home to parents to communicate achievement levels in comparison with their peers at school and nation-wide.
