Faith and Learning Statement
The Love Mandate: “Love the Lord your God…. Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matt. 22:37-38.
Knowing a second language helps us to communicate with other people and express our love for our neighbor. In class we always talk to the students about how important it is to be friends and to share with everyone. God has always shown His great love for us, and likewise we should love everyone by respecting them and using kind words. We talk to the kids about how to apologize, how to take turns, how to respect, and how to help one another.
The Mission Mandate: “Go and make disciples…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matt. 28:18-20.
I feel very blessed that God has given me the opportunity to teach my native language. This is a great gift because the students get to learn another language that will help them communicate Christ’s love to people from other countries or cultures when they come into contact with them. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with Spanish-speaking Christians who can help them expand their knowledge and language skills. This will then help them to expand their knowledge of God, His world, and His great love and mercy.
The Image Mandate: “Let us make man in our image…. Be fruitful…fill the earth…subdue it…rule over every living creature….” Gen. 1:26, 28.
God has given us the responsibility of developing a culture of learning. By knowing another language we can give love to people of other cultures. We teach the kids that it is very important to care for all God's creation when we talk about all of the wonderful things that God created. God wants us to do our best because we are made in His image. Being men and women of God, we should respect each other and care for each other.
